Andy: Well first, thanks for taking the time.
Steve Corino: No problem.
Andy: First off, how's your school doing?
Steve Corino: Excellent...It is amazing how many people want to do it until they realize
that it does cost money and that it isn't as easy as it looks on
TV...Professional wrestling is a art and takes years and practice and some
kids think that because they "wrestled" in there backyards...Also the school
is not owned or even run by me, it is run by IWA Championship Wrestling in PA
and I just train people up there.
Andy: Gotcha. So far, what's your reaction to the TNN show? Feel it's doing about how you
expected it would be doing at this time?
Steve Corino: It is doing way better than I expected!!! I think people thought that we
would get a 3.0 right away and people don't realize that to 5 out of 6
million people that watch WWF every monday night we are a brand new promotion
and it takes time for someone to get into ECW...I really believed that the
first year we wouldn't get much about a 0.75 until people got used to us so I
am thrilled about a 1.0
Andy: A few weeks ago, we saw you and Dusty Rhodes in a confrontation in the ring.
How was that, being in the ring with a man who has put so much into the
wrestling business?
Steve Corino: It was nerve racking in there because I was a fan of Dusty growing up and to
be nose to nose with him was a thrill...
Andy: Was it just for that one night, just for a spot to get Rhodes on TV? Or is
there more planned for the two of you?
Steve Corino: I have no clue.
Andy: Overall, how much of the anti-hardcore gimmick is shoot?
Steve Corino: 99.99999%
Andy: Do the rest of the wrestlers get along with that? Or do any resent your
opinion on their style?
Steve Corino: I really don't know but I would say there probably is a little resentment.
Andy: In your latest commentary, you mentioned the Hardy Boys/Christian and Edge
matches. No doubt, they're exciting to see no matter how many ways they
arrange them. If you could pick someone in the WWF for ECW to do a
temporary talent trade with, which guy would you like to see in ECW and work
a match with?
Steve Corino: Defintley The Hardy Boys would be number 1 & 2, then probably guys like HHH,
Joey Abs, and Christian and Edge
Andy: Are you very familiar with the online hobby of "fantasy wrestling"?
Steve Corino: No
Andy: How would you describe the ECW fans? Maybe a fun bunch to work with? Or
more of your worst enemy if you're not careful?
Steve Corino: They are more bark than bite...I enjoy them because they are so vocal and
they know what they want.
Andy: Wrapping up, any idea on when a Steve Corino old-school match will be taking
place on the TNN show?
Steve Corino: I hope so!!!!
Andy: Well, it's been nice talking to you. See you on the shows!
